Things I have learned in my life so far

I am an art school student at Dogtime/Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam (The Netherlands). After the last exams before the summer break, my teachers wrote in my report that they were confident, and I quote, ‘That I will make a good work one day in the future’. When that made me cry, they told me that they love my work, that they think I sure have talent and and that my report was, and I quote again, ‘Something to be quite jealous of.’ From that day on I tell myself to read between the lines. That white space is like non-verbal communication with different rules and different messages. In between the lines ‘You suck’ actually means ’ You are great’. Maybe we should forget about the lines all together and just go for the blancs. Voids can be nurturing when you want them to.
