Part one of the brief was to research our given song (Waterloo Sunset by The Kinks) and produce a broadsheet on an aspect of the song. I chose to focus on how Ray Davies’ songwriting was quintessentially “English” and really rather nostalgic from a by-gone era.
Part two of the brief was to make a type-led installation piece taking a quote from the song. I chose the line “People so busy, makes me feel dizzy,” which conveys Davies’ dismay at the ever-increasing hustle and bustle of the modern space age sixties, and scrawled it in black on a white curved cardboard structure which gets narrower the further into the piece you walk - to induce feelings of claustrophobia.
