My 2Skin.
As far as I’m concerned live is made of good and bad memories, and every one is in your brain for ever and ever, some times the brain blocks the bad memories, which helps; but this does not happen always. To help my brain I made seven little sculptures, like a therapy. Not just to put out the bad memories, but to remember in the same way the good ones or the neutral memories. What stays in my memory are good travels, new relationships, important occurrence’s, old boyfriends, bizarre things… One is simply mix of past, present and “future” memories. I use latex (second skin) to pack old little objects, words or images. To categorise my memories, like part of myself. The human body is so delicate, so sensitive and not just psychologically but physically too. I have the idea of protecting myself. I constructed a shirt, my second skin made in baby pink thin latex sheet. Covert with little latex scales, a second skin similar to the snakes. With very long sleeves, giving the image of the old skin, not falling like happiness with the serpents, but connected along the arms. I think this is not just old skin but has engraved memories too. Protection in this case, is not really simple or innocent, but still reminds us of seduction. Seduction and temptation are connotations reminding us of many legends, histories and enchanted tales about serpents or dragons. In the end of this experience takes me to the most beautiful tale from the old Testament were God give to the humankind the sensations, the power to fill, to think, to Love and to create .
