I want you to understand me.

This is an ongoing art project about understanding and communicating by using emotions as a universal language.

To put it simply- we all crave understanding. This is my attempt to connect to someone- anyone- in hopes that maybe there is something in my life they can relate to and vice versa.

Thank you so much for sharing. I would love to hear more about imago therapy and how it has affected you and how this statement has evolved from just “i want you to understand me” to “i need you to help me understand who i am.” This is exactly what this project is about- sharing our own experiences in an expression we are all familiar with. Thank you again for sharing.

beautiful sentiment. having gone through some imago therapy with my spouse I can safely say that we are often saying “i want you to understand me” to the people closest to us…using some of the tools from imago that statement transforms into “i want to understand you” and “i need you to help me understand who i am”
